VILVITE (which means will to know in Norwegian) is an exciting new science center in Bergen.  Asked to propose exhibits to fit the themes of Weather and Energy, The Exhibit Guys were delighted to provide four exhibits for their opening in Spring 2007.  We partnered with Creative Machines, another great exhibit company in Tucson, and worked closely with Harry White of Techniquest in Cardiff, Wales, to ensure that all international standards and quality expectations were met.

Hang-Time is a great exhibit to engage a crowd of visitors in fun, informal inquiry of the physics,
physiology, and phenomenology of taking a leap.  The action is captured by a high-speed video camera, and the jumps are played back in super slow-motion on two large screens.  The ‘hang-time’ for each jump is displayed in hundredths of a second.  50 or 60 is an average jump, but even a good athlete  strains to score in the 90’s.  That’s gravity!

We were tickled to build a Rain Hut for the often rainy city of Bergen here in always sunny Tucson.

The Magnetic Ball Wall proves the universal appeal of crazy contraptions.

Suspended Water Drops is a simple but beautiful study of the way water exiting a nozzle breaks up into very uniform drops. A knob allows the visitor to scroll through the entire life cycle of a drop, from squirt to splash.  A strobed backlight using long life LEDs make it appear that the drops hang motionless in space.
